SAVE OUR STAGE!

Since 2018, The Blue Door Theater has been a safe, empowering home for diverse communities across LA including blind actors, musicians with autism, military veterans, and young people facing hardship.

However, the theater is in urgent need of repairs so we can continue to provide meaningful programming for those who need it most. Your donation preserves not just a building, but a community where creativity and courage thrive. Every voice deserves a stage!

$5,000 – Ultimate Private Magic & Wine Experience

This unforgettable experience begins with a curated blind wine tasting, followed by a very private performance by award-winning magician Greg Shane, Artistic Director of ArtsUP! LA — a performer who has appeared at the world-famous The Magic Castle.

Imagine a place where a blind actor can step onto the stage and feel the thrill of moving independently as they bring a story to life, where a musician with autism can express emotions through melody that words alone cannot capture, and where a military veteran can reclaim confidence and purpose through performance.

That place is The Blue Door Theater, the safe and empowering home of ArtsUP! LA where for the past 8 years we've provide meaningful arts programming for some of Los Angeles’ most resilient and under-represented individuals.

The Blue Door is not just a building—it’s a community. Each year, approximately 2,650 individuals find their voice, build self-esteem, and connect with others who understand their struggles. Here, the arts become a lifeline. Young people facing economic hardship discover pride and expression; veterans rediscover purpose and belonging; people with disabilities break barriers society often imposes.

But now, this lifeline is at risk. Our theatre is aging and urgently needs repairs to remain safe, accessible, and fully functional. Every leak, every worn stair, and every failing system threatens the very space where these transformative moments happen. Without immediate support, the artists who rely on this space may lose their stage—the place where they are seen, heard, and celebrated.

Your donation provides more than just replacement bricks and mortar. It’s an investment in people’s lives. Every dollar helps preserve a stage where dreams are realized, courage is cultivated, and creativity thrives. By giving today, you ensure that The Blue Door and ArtsUP! LA can continue to empower individuals from all walks of life, providing them a platform to express themselves, overcome challenges, and inspire the world with their stories.

This is your chance to make a lasting impact—not just on a building, but on a community, a family of artists, and the countless lives they touch every day. Help us save our theatre, and together, we can keep the lights on for every voice that deserves to be heard.

Risks & Challenges

Running a community-focused theatre that serves vulnerable and under-represented populations comes with unique challenges, but we are prepared to face them head-on.

1. Construction and Repairs: The primary challenge is completing the necessary repairs on time and within budget. Older buildings often present unforeseen issues, from plumbing or electrical updates to accessibility improvements. We have partnered with experienced contractors and have contingency plans in place to address unexpected repairs, ensuring the theatre is safe and fully functional for our artists.

2. Funding and Resources: While this campaign will provide critical funding, sustaining ongoing programs requires careful planning. ArtsUP! LA has a history of responsibly managing budgets and securing additional funding through grants, partnerships, and donations, ensuring that your contribution has lasting impact.

3. Program Continuity: Our participants rely on consistent programming. We have developed temporary scheduling strategies to minimize disruption while repairs are underway, so artists can continue to create, perform, and thrive.

4. Accessibility and Safety: Serving blind actors, musicians with disabilities, and other under-represented populations requires a high standard of accessibility and safety. Every repair and upgrade is guided by accessibility experts and safety professionals to maintain an environment where all participants can feel secure and empowered. We are committed to transparency and will keep backers informed every step of the way. With your support, we can overcome these challenges and ensure that ArtsUP! LA remains a vibrant, safe, and transformative space for years to come.
